In 2005, Sanrio asked readers of their monthly magazine Strawberry News to help pick a new name for her. From Hitsuji, she got the name “Piano,” and new items that feature My Sweet Piano were called “My Melody’s Friend Piano.” But in 2008, her first solo merchandise was released with her full name, “My Sweet Piano.” The name fits her perfectly because she is as sweet and gentle as a beautiful piano tune!

Speaking of collaborations, did you know that My Sweet Piano also teamed up with a K-pop star? That’s right! This adorable sheep and her Sanrio friends had a special collaboration with NCT, a 26-member South Korean boy band. My Sweet Piano was paired with Renjun, the group’s main vocalist, who plays the piano just like our sweet fluffy friend.

Aside from being part of Sanrio collaborations, My Sweet Piano has been part of some super fun team-up projects on her own! Some cool projects featuring girly, fluffy, and baby pink bags and pouches were with Thank You Mart and Samantha Vega. Another exciting collaboration was with Maison de FLEUR, where they celebrated My Sweet Piano's birthday with a collection of pink items like bags and pouches, all featuring pretty lace and floral designs.

One was a cute cafe maid skirt from Ailand Store, with My Sweet Piano's face and lace frills, making every step you take look adorable. There are also cute dresses from AnkRouge and Be Mqin! And My Sweet Piano went beyond the girly and delicate style to edgy fashion when she was featured in cool Kinglymask shirts! These collaborations bring My Sweet Piano's charm to life in so many fun ways!

 

IS THERE A MY SWEET PIANO CAFE?

While there’s no My Sweet Piano cafe in Japan, this Sanrio cutie had some limited-time cafes with her BFF My Melody. The first one was in 2015, in celebration of My Melody’s 40th anniversary. My Melody and My Sweet Piano opened this cafe in the Shibuya PARCO shopping mall. The second My Melody and My Sweet Piano cafe was opened the following year, this time in Nagoya PARCO.

Both cafes had a cute and exciting space with a special menu featuring My Sweet Piano and My Melody. The visitors got to take pictures in the cafe that’s decorated with all kinds of pinks and laces. They also had a chance to buy exclusive My Melody and My Sweet Piano items!

Although you can’t hang out with My Sweet Piano in her own cafe, you can still meet her when you’re in Japan! She’s a regular character in Sanrio Puroland, an indoor theme park that’s dedicated to the cute Sanrio characters.
