WHO IS COGIMYUN?
Cogimyun is a super cute character from Sanrio, the company that brought us Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll! She looks soft and fluffy and wears two hair buns held by cute barley ribbons. She not only spreads love and happiness, but she also leaves a little trail of flour as she floats above the ground!
Cogimyun has a charming personality with a cute, delicate smile and pink blushing cheeks. However, she’s a sensitive little thing who easily falls apart at the slightest inconvenience. If something bothers her, she crumbles into a pile of flour! But don’t worry, she pulls herself together and regains her original form real quick!
WHAT ANIMAL IS COGIMYUN?
Cogimyun might look like a cute animal, but guess what? She’s not! Sanrio calls her a cogimuna (コギムーナ) or wheat flour fairy. Instead of being a cute little animal like most of the Sanrio Characters, Cogimyun is made of wheat flour, just like the stuff you use to make bread and cookies. Learn more about other animal cuties in our complete list of Sanrio Characters!
WHAT DOES THE NAME COGIMYUN MEAN?
Now that we know Cogimyun isn’t an animal but a charming flour fairy, it’s time to learn about the meaning of her name. Cogimyun sounds cute, and in the Sanrio Universe, it means “wheat flour fairy.” In reality, the name is probably derived from the word “komugiko” which is Japanese for flour.
WHEN WAS COGIMYUN BORN?
Cogimyun’s birthday is on May 7th, which Sanrio calls “Powder Day!” It’s a playful nod to what this cutie is made of – powdery flour. As for Cogimyun’s age, well, she’s a bit like Peter Pan – she never grows old! Since Sanrio created Cogimyun in the year 2015, she’s been spreading her floury magic for almost a decade! Isn’t that something?
COGIMYUN & HER GRANDPA
Do you want to know something adorable? Cogimyun loves her grandpa so much so much that she wants to be an onigiri because it’s her grandpa’s favorite food. But one day, she comes back home and her grandpa’s nowhere to be found! All she finds is a note from her grandpa saying he went off traveling for a while. So now, she’s in charge of their apartment building called Cogimu Corpo, a place full of other food characters made of flour, just like Cogimyun.
WHO IS COGIMYUN’S BEST FRIEND?
In the world of Sanrio, friendships are as sweet and enduring as the characters themselves, and Cogimyun’s best friend is no different. She shares a special bond with none other than Ebifurai, or Ebi-chan, a breaded fried shrimp. Together, they have the best baking adventures and sprinkle joy wherever they go!
MEET COGIMYUN’S FRIENDS
Cogimyun has a ton of friends living in the apartment building with her. They’re called “Cogimists” because most of them are flour-based food. These Cogimists are always by Cogimyun’s side, offering her companionship and comfort wherever she goes. Let’s get to know them!
Ebifurai (エビフライ)
Commonly known as Ebi-chan, this fried breaded shrimp is Cogimyun’s pet and best friend. Unlike the other characters, he doesn’t speak and can only make the sound, “ebi-ebi.” When Cogimyun was little, he helped her when she got lost and couldn’t go home.
Usagi-san (うさぎさん)
Cogimyun’s only animal friend, this pink and fluffy rabbit met Cogimyun and Ebifurai while taking a walk. After meeting them, it began acting like the other Cogimists!
Cogimyon (こぎみょん)
Cogimyon is Cogimyun’s younger brother who ends his sentences with “~myun.” On the 5th day of November, he came to life when Cogimyun’s tears fell on the dough that she was kneading.
Gyoza-kun (ぎょうざくん)
A bright man in the prime of his youth, Gyoza-kun is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. He has smooth, powdered skin, but sometimes, his excitement causes the ingredients inside him to burst out!
Takoyaki Sisters (たこやきシスター)
The Takoyaki Sisters are composed of Mentaiko Mayo, Dry Sauce, and Sweet Sauce. They all love fashion and trendy things!
Pizzaan (ピッツァン)
Pizzaan has a weakness for women, and he pretends to be Italian. He keeps on saying “Buono!” but it’s actually the only Italian word he knows.
Udon-san (うどんさん)
The most stubborn Cogimist in the Cogimu Housing, Udon-san trains every day in search of firmness, luster, and suppleness. He’s only interested in his fellow udon!
Chococoronee (チョココロネェ)
At first glance, he may seem unapproachable, but he’s actually a very kind and warm-hearted chocolate cornet. He sometimes says harsh things, but he does it out of consideration for others.
Cake-chan (ケーキちゃん)
A whole, girly cake that’s good at cooking and makeup, her attitude changes depending on who she’s with. It’s said that she secretly has a dark heart despite her cute and bright looks.
Pastan (パスタン)
Pasta likes to be a cat, so she keeps on saying “meow” even though she can actually talk. She also rolls herself into a cat shape.
Karaage Brothers (からあげ兄弟)
These two are always in high spirits and are most excited when they are freshly fried. They also wear matching party hats!
